Rise Against-Ready to Fall

Rise Against's song, Ready to Fall, the main character has an epiphany. "but here in this moment like the eye in the storm. it all came clear to me." there is a break in a chaos allowing the person to think and realize that he was wrong. now he knows, but its too late because there is more to come; there is no way to plan and change it. it is going to continue this way, this time. next time will be different it does not have to be like this forever.

Hold on slow down again from the top now and tell me everything
I know I've been gone for what seems like forever
But I'm here now waiting
To convince you that I'm not a ghost or a stranger
But closer than you think
She said, "just go on to what you
Pretend is your life but
Please don't die on me"Wings won't take me
Heights don't phase me
So take a step
But don't look down Take a step
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
Perpetual motion the image won't focus
A blur is all that's seen
But here in this moment like the eye of the storm
It all came clear to me
I found a shoulder to lean on
An infallible reason to live all by itself
I took one last look from the heights that I once loved
And then I ran like hell
Wings won't take me
Heights don't phase me
So take a step
But don't look down Take a step
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I count the times that I've been sorryI know, I know
Now my compassion slowly drownsI know, I know
If there's a time these walls could guard youI know, I know
Then let that time be right now
Now I'm standing on the rooftop
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
Now I'm standing on the rooftop (ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on the rooftop (ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on the rooftop (ready to fall)
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall

Atreyu-Ex's and Oh's

the song Ex's and Oh's by Atreyu has a very commonly used simile. "i should have turned and ran like hell". is show how it look the person in this situation should have gotten out of the ordeal and left the other individual to fend for themselve. it seems to have the appearence of being overwhlemed and exhousting. not many other people want to deal with their friends problems.

You took me home
I drank too much
'Cause of you my liver turned to dust
Cold rust taste
A cruel creeping cold pain
Do you understand what I mean?
When you feel your soul drop to the floor
Like a hole
Like an open bleeding sore
Then you'll have bled like I bled
And you'll have wept as I've wept
Suck me down, it's time to rock and roll
Let's hit the bar, let's lose control
One false move, you took me home
One false move, you're all alone
But it looks so good and it feels so nice
I paid the price
I'll cut you out just to hear you scream,
Get away from, get away from me
And I can feel my heartbeat racing
As I realize what I must do
Get away from, Get away from, Get away from me
I should have turned and ran like hell
Last time I got the taste of you
I should have turned and ran like hell
And I'll see we're through
I should have turned and ran like hell
Last time I got the taste of you
I should have turned and ran like hell
And I'll see we're through
And I'll see we're through
You fell upon me like a plague
Weakness, sweet weakness
But I digress...After all this...
You're just like all the rest
Suck me downIt's time to rock and roll
Let's hit the bar, let's lose contro
lOne false move, you took me home
One false move, you're all alone

Song Analysis polygraph, right now

It is no secret that young women enjoy toying with vulnerable young men. This is a common but still odd hormonal reaction. With their teasing and lying, young women may feel strong emotions for an individual, but if there is no popular consensus of him being cute, rich, or in any way desirable by other girls, the young lady will reject the young man. In the song “Polygraph, Right Now”, by Spill Canvas, there are many comparatives to how twisted young ladies can be.
It is no secret that the young lady Nick Thomas, the lead singer of Spill Canvas, is singing about at one point hurt him. “I wanna break into your heart, to see why you want us apart”, insinuating that he wants to know more about her true feelings towards him and why she was for this break up. “If there is truly another secret lunch-break, working late lover; then I would die, but at least then I'd be free.” Saying is admitting that it would be easier for him to know than to live a life of lies. In the chorus Thomas feels as though this is life, now until the day he dies, will be meaningless and that fate, as if she was an actual person, is an evil individual who tortures him just for her own enjoyment. In an interview Thomas does talks about unfaithfulness and how it is from the view of someone who has suspicions about their significant other. How it can drive them crazy with jealousy and how it can be a horrible think if it can not be controlled.
The connection between theme and this song is the experience. It is something that has happened to many people and will unfortunately continue into the future. This song is an example of a past decision that can affect ones entire life, if they let it. Not does this happen but there is a bit of acceptance of these actions by society. A good example is how there is a website being advertised on the radio about being able to have a secrete affair with others who also want to have an affair. That is unacceptable no matter what the pretenses.
“She loves salting my wounds; Yes, she enjoys nothing more.” This is an example of personification, giving an inanimate object the ability to act like human beings. “I wanna break into your heart, to see why you want us apart.” it’s a metaphor for Thomas wanting to be able to sit down with her and talk. Get everything out truthfully and honestly and get all the answer to his question about her sporadic behavior. “Angel, what are you hiding from me?” Thomas is asking her a question. He wants to know what she is keeping from him. He wants her to confirm the concerns he has for his love.
Looking at this work of Nick Thomas there is a feeling of that this is personal and he still has thought on this. After listing to this song one may feel as though there was no aid in dealing with this situation, which is because there is no real way to make this predicament better. There is no known way to make girls less twisted and crude to men, especially at a young age. Until we see the day where all women as a whole can treat not only men civilly but also other women, that will be the day that there is no concern about love. Although all songs and emotional meaning songs will be forever lost and make musical entertainment mire expression of the wealthy and how mush they do indeed enjoy it. Creating envy in all and causing a new problem that rids the world of all music because of jealousy.

Narative

The song I am using is called "The Tide" by Spill Canvas. its a story about three siblings and there mother. The father is dead. We learn this as we listen to the song. The mother is in an abusive relationship with a new man. The children all have their own issues. Veronica is a love crazed teen who feels as though she should have a very in depth love life by now. Vada is next she jealous of her older prettier sister and but she is not yet interested in boys, but she hides all of this by always having a big smile. Dave is the youngest and he is very confussed. It seems that his father played a huge role in his life even though he was as mean to his mother as her current boyfriend. Now Dave just kind of wonders around with out a purpose. He also wants to know why his mother is with a new man. When their mother is not paying attention her kids are gone. She is deeply distressed about this but it is too late because they are already gone. She just wasnt there for their different points in their lives.

And there's three, count 'em three
Children playing on the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach

There's Veronica
She's biting her lip
As she watches the waves turn white at the tip
And there's Vada
Radiating with joy
And luckily she still can't stand the sight of a boy
And lastly there's Dave
His hair dances in the wind
And he's wondering what love is
And why it has to end

And he can't understand
How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends
His mother whispers quietly...
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love is just a hoax so forget anything that you have heard
And live for the moment now

And there's three, count 'em three
Children growing on the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach

There's Veronica
She's licking her lips
As she waits for her real, first passionate kiss
And there's Vada
Can't admit her jealousy
Of her sister Veronica, and how she's so pretty (and how she's so pretty)
Lastly there's Dave
Still sitting on the dock
Ponders his life, and he skips his rocks
And he wonders when his father will return
But he's not coming back

And he can't understand
How everyone goes on breathing when true love ends
His mother whispers quietly...
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love is just a hoax so forget everything that you have heard (forget everything)

And there's three, count 'em three
Children missing from the beach
They were eager to learn,
To be taught and to teach
But the sad thing
Is that they never lived passed the age of fifteen
Due to neglect from their mother
Who was bed ridden by her ex-lover, their father
She didn't even notice, or pay much attention
As the tide came in and swept her three into the ocean
Now all her advice, it seems useless

No, heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you touch her and you feel alive
So live for the moment
And take this advice, live by every word
Love's completely real, so forget anything that you've heard
And live for the moment now
